Nottingham Forest Striker Awoniyi Undergoes Surgery After Goalpost Collision
Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, underwent surgery on Monday for an abdominal injury.
He sustained the injury after colliding with a post during their 2-2 Premier League draw with Leicester City.
Substitute Awoniyi rejoined the game after receiving treatment but was limping around for the last 10 minutes.
The club has yet to respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours in Britain.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis voiced his frustration over Awoniyi not being substituted.
Meanwhile, manager Nuno Espirito Santo explained that the Nigerian international was left on the pitch due to a misunderstanding between the coaching and medical teams.
Forest, a point behind fifth-placed Chelsea, visits West Ham United on Sunday.
