Nottingham Forest Striker Awoniyi Undergoes Surgery After Goalpost Collision

‎Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, underwent surgery on Monday for an abdominal injury.

‎He sustained the injury after colliding with a post during their 2-2 Premier League draw with Leicester City.

‎Substitute Awoniyi rejoined the game after receiving treatment but was limping around for the last 10 minutes.

‎The club has yet to respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours in Britain.

‎Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis voiced his frustration over Awoniyi not being substituted.

‎Meanwhile, manager Nuno Espirito Santo explained that the Nigerian international was left on the pitch due to a misunderstanding between the coaching and medical teams.

‎Forest, a point behind fifth-placed Chelsea, visits West Ham United on Sunday.
