Pochettino Reflects On Chelsea’s Tough Season Ahead Of Brentford Clash
Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has reflected on the club’s difficult days following their recent League Cup final defeat to Liverpool.
Pochettino, who is enduring a challenging first season at Stamford Bridge, has won only 10 in the club’s last 25 league matches.
With the squad struggling for consistency, Chelsea currently sit 11th in the Premier League, making the 1-0 loss at Wembley particularly tough to swallow.
In a press conference ahead of the upcoming match against Brentford, Pochettino expressed: “We were very close to victory and had faith in our abilities, Despite feeling like the better team after 90 minutes, we couldn’t maintain our energy levels in extra time, leading to our defeat.”
Following their midweek FA Cup victory against Leeds, Pochettino mentioned the team meetings held to uplift the players’ spirits after the disappointment of the cup final loss. Despite setbacks, the squad showed resilience & determination to bounce back quickly.
Regarding player updates, Pochettino mentioned the potential return of Thiago Silva and Marc Cucurella to the squad after their absences.
However, Christopher Nkunku remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, adding to his previous struggles with fitness since joining Chelsea.
As they prepare to face Brentford, currently in 16th place, Chelsea aims to regroup and continue their season with renewed determination.
