Serie A Preview: Inter Look To Pull Away At The Top As Como Battle Atalanta For European Ground

As another weekend approaches in Serie A, the league delivers a full slate of narratives stretching from the title race to the relegation battle.

‎Inter Milan aim to extend their advantage at the summit, Como continue their astonishing rise, Napoli attempt to steady their collapsing season, and Lazio try to stop a worrying downward spiral.

‎Title Favourites Look to Extend Their Lead

‎Inter Milan travel to Stadio Zini on Sunday knowing that victory would push them eight points clear of rivals AC Milan, who play two days later.

‎Cristian Chivu’s side enters the weekend as the undisputed form team in Serie A. They remain unbeaten in ten league matches, have surged ahead of the chasing pack, and continue to combine defensive solidity with an attack that has already produced fifty league goals.

‎Despite their scintillating Serie A run, Inter will still feel frustration after missing out on a top-eight finish in the Champions League league phase.

A 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund midweek restored some momentum, although it was not enough to claim automatic qualification for the last 16.

‎Federico Dimarco’s spectacular free kick highlighted his exceptional season, and with Lautaro Martínez and Alessandro Bastoni expected to return to the starting XI, the Nerazzurri travel to Cremona with confidence.

‎Cremonese, meanwhile, are moving in the opposite direction. A bright start to the campaign has disintegrated into a worrying collapse.

‎They have collected only three points across the last eight matchdays, scored just two goals, and endured seven consecutive home defeats. Davide Nicola’s side lacks firepower, struggles to create clear chances, and continues to suffer key injuries.

‎Facing the league leaders in their current state looks like an enormous challenge.

‎Prediction: Cremonese 0-2 Inter Milan

‎Inter have been dominant away from home and look set to control this match from start to finish. A routine victory should allow them to tighten their grip on the top spot.

‎Como vs Atalanta BC

Serie A’s surprise package, Como, began February full of belief and momentum. Their rise from newly promoted underdogs to European contenders has been one of the season’s most captivating stories.

‎Cesc Fabregas’s team enters the weekend on the back of three straight league wins, including a stunning 3-0 victory over Lazio and a six-goal demolition of Torino.

‎Their form carried into the Coppa Italia, where they eliminated Fiorentina with an impressive 3-1 win at the Franchi.

‎At the Sinigaglia, Como have been phenomenally strong, losing only once in the league and keeping six home clean sheets. Their attack has been refreshed by the return of Álvaro Morata, while Martin Baturina continues to shine as one of the most productive midfielders in the division.

‎With both him and Nico Paz set to return to the starting lineup, Como will feel capable of matching anyone.

‎Atalanta, however, arrives with threats of their own. Although inconsistent against top-six sides this season, they remain dangerous and enter the weekend with several key players finding form.

‎Krstovic has been heavily involved in recent goals, Raoul Bellanova is fit again, and Gian Piero Gasperini has close to a full squad at his disposal. Atalanta’s dynamic attack should make this one of the weekend’s most entertaining fixtures.

‎Prediction: Como 2-2 Atalanta BC

‎Como’s remarkable home form should hold, but Atalanta’s firepower will almost certainly find a way through. A high-energy, end-to-end draw feels likely.

‎Two Struggling Giants Searching for Stability

‎Sunday’s meeting between Napoli and Fiorentina brings together two teams desperate to change course. Napoli’s season has begun to unravel at an alarming speed.

‎Their damaging 3-0 defeat to Juventus was followed by a painful Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea, ending their year-long unbeaten run at the Maradona.

‎Injuries continue to plague Antonio Conte’s squad, with several key players still unavailable and others struggling for form.

‎Rasmus Højlund’s goal drought has added to Napoli’s problems, while Romelu Lukaku is still not fully fit following a long absence.

‎Even so, Napoli’s home record in Serie A remains strong, as they have not suffered a league defeat at the Maradona in their last 21 matches. Against a struggling Fiorentina, that streak could provide the stability they desperately need.

‎Fiorentina, however, will not arrive without hope. Although still placed inside the relegation zone, Paolo Vanoli’s side has shown gradual improvement in recent weeks.

‎The Viola have collected eleven points from their last seven league fixtures, a run that has helped them remain within reach of safety. Their forwards continue to misfire, forcing midfielder Rolando Mandragora to step up as the team’s leading scorer.

‎The recent home defeat to Cagliari and Coppa Italia elimination at the hands of Como have dented momentum, but Fiorentina remain competitive.

‎Prediction: Napoli 1-1 Fiorentina

‎Given Napoli’s instability and Fiorentina’s newfound resilience, a tight contest appears likely.

‎A draw may not help either side significantly, but it feels the most realistic outcome.

‎Crisis Meets Revival at the Olimpico

‎The weekend’s action begins on Friday with a fascinating contrast between two teams moving in completely different directions.

‎Lazio enters the match in crisis. Maurizio Sarri’s side looks short on ideas, lacking confidence and struggling badly in front of goal. Their goalless draw against Lecce followed a heavy defeat to Como and further highlighted their inability to break teams down.

‎Sarri’s public criticism of his players has only deepened the sense of instability.

‎Lazio have also lost several important squad members during January and have managed only four league wins at home this season. With European qualification slipping further from reach, the pressure continues to build.

‎Genoa, on the other hand, has been revitalised under Daniele De Rossi. Since the start of 2026, they have gone five games unbeaten and climbed steadily away from the relegation zone.

‎Last weekend’s dramatic comeback over Bologna showcased both their spirit and their ability to respond in crucial moments. De Rossi, a Roma legend, will be particularly motivated to take points at the Olimpico.

Prediction: Lazio 1-1 Genoa

‎Lazio’s lack of confidence, combined with Genoa’s strong form, suggests a balanced meeting.

‎Genoa should end their losing streak in this fixture by securing a valuable draw.
