AS Roma has decided to part ways with their head coach, Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho was sacked due to a recent string of poor performances, Sportxparte understands.

AS Roma, under Mourinho, has only managed to win one out of their last six Serie A games, which has resulted in them currently sitting in ninth place in the league standings.

In addition to their struggles in the league, AS Roma were also eliminated from the Coppa Italia by their city rivals, Lazio. This further added to the disappointment surrounding the team’s recent form.

It could be recalled that Jose Mourinho joined AS Roma in 2021 and held the position of head coach for two-and-a-half years. During his tenure, he achieved success by leading the team to victory in the Europa Conference League in 2022.

Furthermore, Mourinho guided AS Roma to the Europa League final last season, although they were ultimately defeated by Sevilla in a penalty shootout.

“We would like to thank Jose on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.

“We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club.

“We wish Jose and his assistants all the best in their future endeavours,” the club statement on Tuesday morning read.
