Inter Miami Part Ways With Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino
After leading Inter Miami to a shocking Round One exit in the MLS Cup playoffs, Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino is leaving the club, per GiveMeSport’s Tom Bogert.
Bogert reported that the Argentine has chosen to leave Inter Miami for personal reasons.
The news comes just ten days after Martino’s former team, Atlanta United, knocked the Herons out of a best-of-three series. After claiming victory in Game 1 at Chase Stadium, Inter Miami lost the following two matches, resulting in an early end to their season that caught everyone by surprise.
Inter Miami were the favorites to lift the MLS Cup after winning the 2024 Supporters’ Shield with a record-breaking 74 points. Led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez up top, the club put together the greatest regular season in MLS history.
Despite his efforts, it was not enough for Inter Miami to secure their first MLS Cup. Martino accomplished that feat with Atlanta United in 2018, but after just two seasons in Miami, he has decided to move on.
In addition to the 2024 Supporters’ Shield, the Argentine also led the Herons to victory in the 2023 Leagues Cup.
