Bayern Munich have reportedly warned midfielder, Joshua Kimmich they want an answer to their offer of a new contract by early January.

Kimmich is approaching the final six months of his contract with Bayern Munich and has emerged as a potential bargain transfer this summer, with both Manchester City and Barcelona reportedly interested in the German international.

The 29-year-old recently vowed to decide on his future in January, but according to Sky Sports Germany, that may not be soon enough for Bayern.

Bayern Munich is seeking a decision from Kimmich as early as the beginning of January, fully aware that finding a suitable replacement for such a pivotal player will require months of research and planning.

Club officials have stated publicly that they view Kimmich as a cornerstone of their future and are eager to offer him a lucrative new contract.

However, the veteran midfielder has yet to make a decision, though he has promised to provide his family with an indication of his plans by Christmas.

As soon as January arrives, overseas suitors like Barcelona and Man City can make contact with Kimmich and discuss a contract, which will only ramp up the pressure on Bayern as they seek to compete with the riches on offer elsewhere.

Kimmich is not the only Bayern midfielder drawing interest from the Premier League, as Manchester United is reportedly eager to sign Konrad Laimer at the urging of their new head coach, Ruben Amorim.
