Ronaldo Suspended For Over Unprofessional Gesture To Al-Shabab Fans

Portuguese professional footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself at the centre of a controversy following a gesture he made during a recent match.

Sportxparte understands that after Al-Nassr’s 3-2 victory against Al-Shabab, a video surfaced showing Ronaldo making a repeated thrusting gesture towards his groin in response to provocative chants from the crowd chanting “Lionel Messi”, his arch-rival.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation took action against Ronaldo, suspending him for one game and imposing a fine of 30,000 riyals ($8,000) for acting against the rules in public during a match.

The decision was declared as final and non-negotiable.

In April of the previous year, Ronaldo was also seen touching his groin as he made his way to the dugout after a league match against Al Hilal, where Al Nassr suffered a 2-0 defeat.

In his explanation, Ronaldo defended his actions, stating, “I respect all clubs… and the arm movement expresses strength and victory and is by no means shameful or obscene. In Europe, we are accustomed to that.”
