Serie A Roundup: Inter Clinch The Scudetto As Napoli Stall

Published

on

A defining weekend in Serie A delivered glory for Inter, frustration for Napoli, and rising anxiety for Milan and Juventus.

‎While Cristian Chivu’s men secured the Scudetto in front of a jubilant San Siro. The race for the remaining Champions League places tightened dramatically, with surprise contenders Como refusing to fade away.

‎Napoli Held at Como

‎Napoli’s 0-0 draw away to Como on Saturday effectively handed Inter the title ahead of their clash with Parma.

‎The defending champions produced another flat display, unable to break down a disciplined and energetic Como side. Cesc Fàbregas has transformed the newcomers into one of the most organised units in Italy.

‎And they were the team closest to taking all three points. Vanja Milinković-Savić made several important saves to keep Napoli in the match.

‎While Matteo Politano struck the post late on as desperation grew.

‎The draw left Inter needing only a point against Parma to seal the Scudetto. But the Nerazzurri did far more than that on Sunday night.

‎Inter Seals Their 21st Serie A Title

‎Inter clinched the Scudetto with a composed and commanding 2-0 victory at home to Parma. A result that pushed them to 82 points and established an unassailable lead over Napoli.

‎The match followed a familiar script for the Inter side, who began with control, organisation, and relentless pressure.

‎Their dominance nearly paid off midway through the first half when Nicolò Barella unleashed a fierce effort that cannoned off the underside of the bar.

‎The rebound then struck Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who reacted sharply to prevent the ball from crossing the line. Just when it seemed the half would end goalless, Piotr Zielinski picked out Marcus Thuram in stoppage time.

‎Thuram finished clinically to send San Siro into celebration mode.

‎Inter dictated the second half with the composure of a team fully aware of what was at stake. Denzel Dumfries missed a golden opportunity when he fired over from close range. But the home support barely had time to complain before the decisive moment arrived. Lautaro Martínez surged into the box and squared for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who tapped into an empty net in the 80th minute.

‎The final whistle was drowned out by celebrations, confirming Inter’s 21st Scudetto with three games still to play.

‎Como’s Fairytale European Charge

‎Como’s draw with Napoli was more than a point gained it was another step toward a historic European qualification. Fàbregas’s side remain fifth on 62 points, just two behind Juventus, and a comfortable eight clear of Atalanta in seventh. With the top six guaranteed European football. Como are on the cusp of clinching continental action for the first time in their history.

‎Europe is no longer a dream around Lake Como; it is becoming an expectation.

Milan Collapses at Sassuolo

‎While Inter celebrated, Milan’s season continued to unravel. A 2-0 defeat away to Sassuolo, combined with Fikayo Tomori’s first-half red card, plunged Stefano Pioli’s side deeper into trouble.

‎Domenico Berardi struck early for the hosts before Tomori’s dismissal left Milan exposed. Armand Laurienté capitalised after the break to seal the result.

‎Milan has now lost four of their last seven matches and scored just once in their last five. The slide has left them third in the table, only two points ahead of Juventus and three clear of the rapidly rising Como.

Juventus Drop Points Again

‎Juventus also faltered, drawing 1-1 at home to already relegated Verona. Despite extending their unbeaten run to nine matches, the performance highlighted their ongoing struggles in front of goal and their vulnerability at the back.

‎Kieron Bowie opened the scoring for Verona after pouncing on a poor pass from Gleison Bremer. Dusan Vlahović responded with a well-struck free-kick for his first goal since October.

‎But Juventus failed to find a second despite dominating possession.

‎The result leaves Juventus in fourth, but their position is increasingly precarious with Como closing in and Milan stumbling.

Bologna Held in Derby

‎Bologna’s goalless draw with Cagliari offered little in terms of entertainment or progress. The meeting ended with both sides settling into a stalemate that maintained Bologna’s mid-table position.

‎But did nothing for their faint hopes of pushing toward Europe.
