In a significant boost for FC Barcelona, midfield prodigy Gavi has returned to group training for the first time since being sidelined with an ACL injury last year.

The 20-year-old midfield sensation has been unavailable for 298 days after suffering an ACL injury in November 2023 while representing the Spanish national team.

Having undergone surgery, the La Masia gem has been working extremely hard on his rehabilitation and recovery and has pushed deadlines to make a much-awaited return to group training.

Barcelona shared a video of the 20-year-old being welcomed back to training by the traditional slaps on the back as he runs through between them.

The youngster is said to have done part of the training session with the squad today.

Gavi’s return is a significant advantage for Barcelona, the team has greatly missed his presence on the field, particularly during the latter half of last season.

With injuries hampering the team in midfield in the current campaign under new manager Hansi Flick, the 20-year-old’s availability will be a welcome boost.

However, while Gavi has made his comeback to group training today, the youngster is not expected to return to action right away.

Considering the length of his absence and the severity of his injury, is wise for Barcelona to gradually reintegrate him into play rather than rush his return
