Europa League Quarter-Final Draw: Liverpool Faces Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen Vs West Ham United
Liverpool has been drawn to face Serie A team Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals, while Bayer Leverkusen, the current Bundesliga leaders, will take on West Ham United.
The draw took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon on Friday, March 15th. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team is aiming to secure another trophy before the manager departs at the end of the season.
They could meet Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen in the final, with Alonso considered one of the potential successors to Klopp at Anfield.
Liverpool previously faced Atalanta in the group stage of the 2020/21 Champions League, losing 2-0 at home but enjoying a 5-0 victory in Italy.
Klopp told a press conference on Friday. “Tricky, Atalanta, we played them, it’s not like I watched them 500 times since then, but still the same manager, similar structure, so it means uncomfortable to play against, very well organized.”
