Atlético de Madrid continued their impressive run in La Liga with a commanding 3-1 victory over Girona, thanks to a brace from Antoine Griezmann.

The win solidified their position in the top four of the league table and extended their dominant home record to 21 wins in 24 matches this season, with just one draw and two losses.

The match started with Girona taking an early lead through Artem Dovbyk’s goal, following a well-executed team move that caught the Atlético defense off guard. However, Atlético quickly responded when Miguel Gutiérrez was penalized for a handball in the box, allowing Griezmann to convert the resulting penalty and level the score. Just before halftime, Ángel Correa put Atlético ahead with a well-placed header from Álvaro Morata’s cross.

In the second half, Atlético extended their lead as Griezmann capitalized on a defensive error by Jhon Solís to score his second goal of the match. Despite Girona’s efforts to find a way back into the game, they were unable to break through the solid defense of Jan Oblak, who made key saves to deny their attempts.

The victory marked Atlético’s third consecutive win in all competitions, displaying their strong form and determination as they push for European qualification. On the other hand, Girona will be looking to bounce back from their fifth successive away defeat when they face Cádiz in their next fixture.
