Juventus Target Reaches Agreement In Principle For New Barcelona Contract

In the past week, Barcelona has seen a surge of positive developments, as Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have been granted temporary permission to resume play.

This momentum has been further bolstered by victories against Athletic Club and Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup.

Now it looks like they will be able to hang onto star defender Ronald Araujo.

The Uruguayan appeared to be celebrating what could be his final victory with Barcelona, as he was preparing to leave the club for Juventus on Tuesday night.

However, after talks with Barcelona Sporting Director Deco, Araujo has reportedly decided to stay at Barcelona. Sport say that unless Juventus present a €60m offer, something they have ruled out, then Araujo will not be moving.

According to Relevo, Juventus had a €50m offer ready to go for Araujo, which they were prepared to send to Barcelona this week.

Manager, Thiago Motta had been in discussions with Araujo in recent days regarding the transfer.

However, following Araujo’s change of heart, Juventus will no longer pursue the transfer and will redirect their focus to other targets.

In recent weeks, Arsenal has shown interest in Araujo, and this speculation is expected to continue until his contract situation is clarified. Araujo’s current contract runs until 2026, and Barcelona aims to either extend it or consider selling him this summer.

After accepting a team-friendly deal in 2022, Araujo is justified in pursuing a more lucrative contract this time.
