Neymar Is Reportedly Close To A Move Back To His Boyhood Club
After a nightmare spell at Al Hilal, which has been plagued by injuries, Neymar Jr could be set for a shock move back to Santos the club where he made his name as a teenager.
According to prominent journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the former PSG and Barcelona forward has reached an agreement to return home, even though he is currently under contract with Saudi club Al Hilal until June 2025.
His current club is negotiating a deal to terminate the remainder of his contract, allowing him to return to Santos. The club aims to announce his signing after securing the Serie B championship, having been relegated following the 2023 season.
This announcement could come as soon as Sunday night if they win the league title against Clube de Regatas Brasil (CRB).
Neymar made his senior debut with Santos back in 2009, where he made an instant impact scoring in his second game.
He would go on to make 176 appearances in the white-and-black stripes of Santos, scoring 101 goals.
In 2013, he transferred to Barcelona for 88.8 million euros. At the club, he joined forces with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez to form the legendary ‘MSN’ trio, which propelled the Catalan side to consecutive league titles.
He then made a move to PSG before eventually transferring to Saudi Arabia.
During his time with Al Hilal, the Brazilian has made only seven appearances over two seasons, as an ACL injury has significantly hindered his performance.
