The Semi-final fixtures for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Cote d’Ivoire has been confirmed.

Four countries, including the host, Ivory Coast, have progressed to the semi-final stage after Saturday’s tough encounters.

SportXparte reports that the upcoming semi-final match at the 2023 AFCON will feature the Super Eagles of Nigeria facing off against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.

In the quarter-finals yesterday, South Africa had a tough battle against Cape Verde, with neither team managing to score a goal in the 120 minutes of play.

The game ultimately went into a penalty shootout, where South Africa’s goalkeeper Ronwen Williams showcased his skills by saving four out of five penalties taken by Cape Verde.

This remarkable performance by Williams secured South Africa’s spot in the semi-finals, marking their first appearance at this stage of the tournament since 2000.

Williams has become the inaugural goalkeeper in AFCON history to successfully save four penalties during a single penalty shootout. The Bafana Bafana, who have previously clinched the AFCON title once, will now confront the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the semifinals after eliminating Angola from the tournament.

It is worth noting that Nigeria, having emerged victorious three times in the past, is considered the frontrunner to secure the championship in the upcoming 2023 edition.

Below is the 2023 AFCON semi-final fixtures and kick-off time:

  • Nigeria Vs South Africa
6 PM on Wednesday, February 7th, at Peace Stadium of Bouaké.
