Jose Mourinho Speaks After Losing AS Roma Coaching Job To Daniele De Rossi
Jose Mourinho has finally broken his silence following his dismissal as the manager of AS Roma.
Sportxparte reported earlier that the Portuguese professional football manager was sacked.
According to The Sun, after an emotional departure from the Roma training ground on Tuesday, Mourinho was seen holding back tears.
In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Mourinho expressed his gratitude to the passionate Roma fans.
The 60-year-old tactician posted a video montage showcasing his best moments during his time as the club’s manager and wrote in Italian, “Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity.”
The comments section of the post was filled with Roma supporters showering Mourinho with gratitude for his tenure as the team’s manager.
Mourinho successfully guided the team to triumph in the inaugural Europa Conference League during his debut season, while in his subsequent season, they secured the position of runners-up in the Europa League.
On Tuesday, the football club announced Mourinho’s departure through an official statement on their website. As per the statement, both Mourinho and his staff will promptly depart from the club.
The statement read, “AS Roma can confirm that José Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect.
“We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club.
“We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club.
“We wish José and his assistants all the best in their future endeavours.”
Mourinho was unveiled as the Giallorossi’s 60th coach in May 2021.
AS Roma Confirms Daniele De Rossi As New Manager
Shortly after Mourinho’s dismissal, AS Roma announced Daniele De Rossi as its new head coach, Sportxparte reports.
The former Italy midfielder replaced Mourinho despite his limited coaching experience.
De Rossi, who enjoyed the majority of his playing career at Roma, has been appointed as the team’s leader until June 2024.
The 40-year-old former player, who achieved World Cup glory with Italy in 2006, had a relatively modest collection of trophies during his time at Roma.
After a short period at Boca Juniors, De Rossi retired from playing in early 2020.
Despite his limited coaching experience, having only spent four months at SPAL last season, Roma has entrusted him with the responsibility of improving their current position in Serie A. Currently sitting in ninth place, they are five points away from the Champions League spots.
