PSG Step Up Chase For Atlético Julián Álvarez
Paris Saint-Germain is pushing hard to sign Julian Álvarez this summer, with head coach Luis Enrique personally endorsing the move.
Reports from Argentina and Spain indicate that PSG has already opened discussions with Atlético Madrid. Enrique is said to be directly involved in the early negotiations.
Why Álvarez Fits PSG
Álvarez has impressed this season with 20 goals and 9 assists, showcasing his versatility, pressing ability, and clinical finishing. Enrique sees him as an ideal addition to PSG’s evolving attack, especially with tactical adjustments that demand mobility and high intensity from the front line.
Bringing Álvarez to Paris will not be straightforward. Atlético are demanding more than €150 million double what they paid in 2024.
Although the player has a €500m release clause. The club simply wants to ensure they do not lose him for anything below their major investment.
The Player’s Position
Álvarez is believed to be open to a move, with his representatives exploring options. He is considering a change of environment, which gives PSG encouragement as they look to strengthen their forward line.
Arsenal is also tracking the situation closely. TEAMtalk reports that they have held quiet talks with intermediaries, and Álvarez is open to returning to England if the right project emerges in London.
However, competing financially with PSG would be difficult unless the player pushes for the move.
PSG’s Attack Taking Shape
PSG’s pursuit of Álvarez also connects to the uncertain future of Gonçalo Ramos, who is frustrated with his limited role.
His potential exit would open space for Álvarez to form a new attacking partnership alongside Ousmane Dembélé, who has excelled in central areas recently.
