Victor Osimhen was greeted by thousands of Galatasaray supporters in Istanbul on Tuesday morning following his arrival to complete his loan move from Napoli.

The Nigeria international signed a contract extension with the Italian club last December through to 2026 with a reported release clause of 130 million euros ($143.91 million).

A month later, Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis said Osimhen would leave at the end of the season.

The striker seeking a transfer has not been included in Napoli’s official 23-man Serie A squad for the current campaign.

Osimhen’s 26 goals helped Napoli win the Scudetto two seasons ago, but it has all turned sour since.

The Nigeria international will join Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal. The Turkish Super Lig will cover his entire €10m salary.

The 25-year-old also requested a break clause that would enable him to permanently transfer to another club for €75 million in January.

The forward also signed a one-year contract extension until 2027.

He joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for €79m, scoring 76 goals with 18 assists in 133 games.
