Spanish Midfielder Gavi Signs Long-Term Contract With Barcelona
Spanish Midfielder, Gavi has become the latest Barcelona star to sign a new contract, tying himself to the La Liga giants until 2030.
In recent weeks, contract extensions have become a common practice in Catalonia. Centre-back Ronald Araujo resolved any doubts regarding his future by signing a new deal, while Pedri followed suit by finalizing his contract on Thursday.
24 hours later, Barcelona confirmed Gavi had followed suit, inking a new five-and-a-half-year contract to remain with the Blaugrana until 2030.
“I’m very happy to commit to the club of my life,” Gavi said upon inking his new deal.
Reports indicate that Gavi’s new contract includes a release clause of €1 billion, the same amount as his previous contract.
Barcelona is committed to retaining the 20-year-old player, especially given that his exit clause is much higher than the €65 million fee outlined in Araujo’s recent deal.
Centre-back Inigo Martinez is expected to be next in line for a new contract, while superstar winger, Lamine Yamal has already confirmed his plan to extend with Barcelona.
The 17-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in 2026; however, it is reported that there is an existing agreement for a new contract that he will sign on his 18th birthday in July.
